Study the ecology and conservation of fish, corals, sponges, reef ecosystems, and their relationships with mangroves, seagrasses, and the open ocean environment. At the end of the course, put your knowledge into practice with a research project on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage site where we will stay at the Glover’s Reef Research Station.
The Ceiba Coral Reefs Ecology program provides an introduction to oceanography, marine biology, and marine conservation in a blended format. The course overall totals four weeks, beginning with two weeks of online instruction followed by a 12-day marine science expedition to Belize where experts will lead field instruction, shoreline hikes, and snorkeling expeditions. The course will wrap up with a couple more days online.
